Aims and objectives of the study was the analysis of a possible change of functions from industrial areas to housing areas.
The planning concept gets developed based on a strict grid, which defines “gaps” between the buildings. The system of individual volumes is based on the existing structure of single-family houses nearby and guarantees via its openness a maximum of ways through the site.
The punctual houses are merged into small groups, which develop their own identity and architectural look. Garages underneath the buildings get lifted up slightly to provide natural daylight and ventilation. Roofs of these garages emerge as terraces, which differentiate private from public spaces.
